Others won’t surprise you, but you might be wonderings. We love talking all things moving to Wyoming and living in Wyoming. And ALL THINGS CASPER, WYOMING!

Top 5 Questions Asked About Moving to Wyoming
One of my very favorite things to do is talk to all of you. I love answering all the questions you have. Over the last few years, I have talked to so many people about Wyoming. In talking with them, there seems to be a general consensus as to the questions that everyone asks. So I’ve compiled the top questions in order of the most times asked.

Number one, the internet. I know, it’s kinda shocking to me too that it was the number one question asked. Many assume our internet is not super great. In reality, we have some decent internet suites, especially if you live in town. Outside of town, you do have choices in satellite service, delivered through a type of small satellite dish that actually allows Zooming, email, streaming and even uploading this YouTube video. So working from home is a go. On the off chance that the internet is out for a day, the hotspot on my phone even works for doing all those things I need to get done at home. Watch this video for all things internet. Number two, state income tax. We are one of the few states that do not have a state income tax. This is so great. Is there really anything else to say? You could also watch this video about the cost of living in Casper.

Number two. Okay, so there was a tie between state income tax and medical, but the other number two question is always about medical care and medical facilities. Here in Casper, there are a lot of different options for doctors and specialists. If the Casper area does not have the medical specialists or office or procedure that you’re looking for, we are only four hours away from Denver, Colorado and about six and a half hours from Salt Lake City, Utah.

Number three, housing, of course. Currently, the average sales price for a home is well under the national average. Our average sales price in 2021 was $286,000, about 31% lower than the national average, which was a whopping $374,000. In addition, despite Wyoming having no state income tax, our property taxes are still lower than most of the country. The demand for purchasing real estate is at an all-time high, and the supply or inventory is at an all-time low. Will you be able to find a home here? Yes, we continue to find great homes for our clients. It is sometimes challenging, yes, but we are still getting it done.

Number four, schools. In many parts of the country, the school your kiddos go to depend upon the neighborhood you live in. In Natrona Country, in particular, in the Casper area, you have a choice regarding what school your kids will attend, otherwise known as school of choice, with a few limitations. So you are not limited to having your child attend the school that is located in your neighborhood. Another interesting aspect of school of choice is that in Natrona County, if you so choose, your child has access to riding the school bus, even if you select a school across town from your neighborhood. This creates an educational environment where you can choose the school that best fits your child’s way of learning. You can watch the video we did about schools right here.

Number five, weather. Does the wind really blow as hard as I’ve read it does on the internet and heard from people? I think occasionally that all the talk about Wyoming weather is exaggerated. But then again, maybe not this year’s wind. Yes, it is windy, but there are so many absolutely gorgeous days that we get in between that make up for all of it. How much snow does Casper get? The average snowfall is over 70 inches a year, but it does vary from year to year. We also get about 10 inches of rain per year. Guess what? The sun shines 220 days a year. Now, that is 109 days of full sun and 111 days of partly sunny. The hottest month of the year in Casper is July, which the average high is 88 degrees Fahrenheit and the low is 56 degrees Fahrenheit. The cold season lasts for about three and a half months, from November 18th to March 2nd, with an average daily temperature below 45 degrees. Like we said in this video and this one, the wind does blow here. This December was one of the windiest Decembers in 15 years.
