– There’s something grand about this home and it was screaming for somebody to do right by it. Nobody had ever really, truly remodeled it correctly. And it’s such a beautiful home. It has high ceilings. It has the arch. It has a brick fireplace. It has fabulous natural light. There was nothing downstairs. So I was able to do the downstairs from ground up.

– We’re in the main kitchen area. Absolutely gorgeous, huge lots of space, lots of cabinets. How did you pick the elements in this kitchen?

– So I wanted it to be black and white because that’s the start. If you look in some of the old photos you’ll see this floor. I love the farmhouse sink, the faucet. I wanted everything black and white. So, all of the appointments in the bathrooms are black and this is a black faucet to go with the black kitchen cabinets, black hardware. We did the recess lighting just to give it wonderful light but not to detract from the beauty of the beam and the exposed brick.

– And we can’t forget about the subway tile with the dark grout. It’s absolutely just brings this whole kitchen together.

– Yeah, yeah. We just brought it up to modern standards. So it’s a fun kitchen. The colors are fun to work with. You can use any accents.

– What color, what would be your main color in this kitchen if it was yours?

– Well, I love chartreuse, but…

– Me too. Now we’re in the second kitchen. What made you put a second kitchen in this home?

– So there’s no homes in Castro with mother-in-law accommodations. And I thought, gosh, if I put two kitchens in this home it would give it so many ways to use it. You could use it with you have teenagers If you have a kid that came home to live with mama. You could have an Airbnb below you. You could have all the bedrooms consolidated into the house and use the kitchen as a second kitchen. There’re just so many ways you could use a home with two kitchens

– And this would also make a great investment property because it’s completely redone. So it’s going to be very low maintenance Get somebody in here and they’re gonna love it and they’re gonna stay.

– Oh, I think so, yeah. It’s just, it’s very pleasant. It’s got good ceiling height for a lower level. It has two bedrooms with exposed brick, some antique wood. It’s just a great possibility for somebody that would like to have a separate rental or living unit.
