Migration to Wyoming. People are moving to Wyoming for various reasons, such as its natural beauty, low cost of living, favorable business environment, small population, and excellent education system. Wyoming, known for its stunning landscapes and wild west lifestyle, attracts outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a laid-back lifestyle. The state features a relatively low cost of living compared to other western states like California or Colorado, with no personal or corporate state income tax and lower property taxes. Wyoming’s business-friendly policies, low tax rates, and streamlined regulatory environment have attracted entrepreneurs and national companies, leading to an increasingly diverse economy. The state’s low population density and small-town charm offer a sense of community often lacking in densely populated areas. Wyoming’s political climate is conservative, valuing individual freedom and limited government. With low crime rates, strong educational opportunities, and a high school graduation rate above the national average, Wyoming has become an appealing relocation destination for many people across the country.
We all know that people are moving, but where are they going? Are they all coming to Wyoming? I get asked this all the time. Why are people moving to Wyoming, and are they all coming here? Why are people moving out of Wyoming? They actually are moving out. Wyoming has always been known for its beautiful landscapes and Wild West lifestyle. It seems that people are beginning to realize the benefits of moving to the Equality State. Hi, I’m Alisha Collins with the Alisha Collins Real Estate team, located in Casper, Wyoming. Let’s take a look of the migration of people to and from Wyoming.
First, you should know that we have people moving in and people moving out of Wyoming all the time. According to the latest US census, Wyoming’s population has increased a bit, just under 2,500 people, or about 4/10 of 1% more people moved to Wyoming than left between July 2021 and July 2022. However, the United Van Lines 46th Annual National Mover Study reveals a net population loss with a total outbound figure of 57% and the inbound figure was 43% for the net outbound of 14%. Their report reflects, especially over the last few years, the majority of people moving either direction do so to be closer to family. To see their annual study and compare their statistics year by year, visit the United Van Lines website at the link below. With various reports containing conflicting numbers, it’s difficult to know what’s correct.
I’d like to offer you this. There are several reasons why people are drawn to Wyoming. In addition to its natural beauty, people seem to appreciate the lower cost of living and the favorable business environment. Wyoming has some of the country’s most majestic national parks, including Yellowstone and Grand Teton, which draws millions of tourists each year. Tremendous beauty, vast wilderness areas, towering mountain ranges, and some of the clearest skies in the country. Fresh air. We definitely have that here. For people who love the outdoors, Wyoming is a paradise.
Another great reason people move here is Wyoming’s low cost of living. In comparison to other Western states like California or Colorado, Wyoming is relatively affordable. We have no personal or corporate state income tax and property taxes are relatively low. Additionally, the cost of housing is much lower than in many other states, which happens to be something I know all about. This makes Wyoming an attractive option for anyone looking to stretch their finances. After the last few years we have had, I think everyone could use a little extra room in their budget. Am I right?
Wyoming’s business friendly policies, low tax rates, and streamlined regulatory environment makes it easy for businesses to start, grow, and thrive. As a result, Wyoming’s favorable business environment is attracting entrepreneurs and business owners. Some national companies have relocated to Wyoming over the last few years, including some in the firearms industry. Wyoming has an increasingly diverse economy, with industries like energy, tourism, technology, and agriculture each playing a significant role. Wyoming also has a robust mining and natural resources industry, with vast reserves of coal, natural gas, and other minerals.
Another factor that impacts the growth of the state is the appeal of Wyoming’s relatively small population and low population density. People are attracted to Wyoming’s small town charm and laid back lifestyle. With a population of around 580,000 people, Wyoming is one of the least populated states in the country, followed by Vermont and Alaska, giving Wyoming a sense of community and connection that is often lacking in more densely populated places. This also means that there is plenty of wide open space and room to spread out. Looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city? In my experience, Wyoming offers a quiet and peaceful lifestyle.
So what about our state political climate? Wyoming is known for its conservative values and has a reputation for being a state that values individual freedom and limited government. For people who are disillusioned with the political climate in other parts of the country, Wyoming may offer a welcome change.
Wyoming ranks highly in terms of education with a high school graduation rate that is above the national average. We also have several top-notch colleges, including great community colleges, along with the University of Wyoming, which is my favorite of course because it’s where I went to school. For anyone seeking strong educational opportunities, Wyoming offers excellent options.
In summary, Wyoming is attracting people from all over the country for lots of reasons. It’s natural beauty, low cost of living, favorable business climate and population, and an excellent education system are just a few of the reasons why people are choosing to call Wyoming home. If you would like to call Wyoming home, I would love to talk to you. I could talk for hours about people choosing Wyoming as their new home, but we don’t have that kind of time in one video. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful place to live, an entrepreneur looking to start a business, or someone who simply loves the great outdoors, Wyoming has something to offer you.
