What Do Wyoming Residents REALLY Think About Living in Wyoming?
I conducted an incredibly scientific poll to determine the answer to my questions okay so not really I simply asked about this topic on Facebook so let’s talk about what’s lovable and not so lovable about living in Wyoming if you’ve watched any of my other videos you probably already know that I love living in Wyoming and you also probably know that there’s some things I don’t necessarily love about living here so rather than hear more about why I love living here I thought I would share more of what other people love and hate about living in Wyoming hi I’m Alisha Collins with the Alisha Collins real estate team interestingly enough as I look at these answers I find that I agree with some others made me laugh but they all made it hard to decide do I share the favorite things or the least favorite things first but I think I can actually start with something that surprised me by ending up on both lists the win I was not surprised to see it top the charts as everyone’s least favorite thing about living in Wyoming however I was surprised to see that a couple people had something positive to say about the wind in Wyoming one lucky person living
in Lander shared that the lack of wind there is their favorite thing about living in Wyoming unfortunately the rest of us can’t really say that there were 35 people who responded of those 25 said their least favorite thing about living in Wyoming is the wind some shared that they absolutely hate the wind living in Casper I admit that we do experience a sign significant amount of wind now it really isn’t every day but sometimes it
can feel like it the intensity and the frequency can vary depending upon location it is not only which city you’re in but sometimes where you’re
located within each city that is where a great real estate team comes in we’ll be here to help you discover the places where you’ll love to live if the Casper area or anywhere in Wyoming is on your list give my team a call we absolutely love talking with you and hearing from from you all I’m not sure that I hate the wind but I do have to agree with the person who said the wind can wear on you that is a sentiment I can agree with most of the time I just stay positive and remind myself that the wind isn’t that bad that it will stop eventually or like one person said the wind is a small
price to pay for the good stuff that living in Wyoming has to offer one response that made me laugh out loud was when someone said that both their favorite and least favorite thing about living in Wyoming is that it’s too windy for tourists to transplant I don’t necessarily agree but I can understand their thinking I do think that our population would be a lot higher as a state without the intensity of the wind of course the wind has some pluses and minuses that come with it another person said there wasn’t anything they didn’t like about living in Wyoming and they consider the wind a plus because it keeps the disbelievers out so there you have it many people that live here do consider the wind their least favorite thing thing about living in Wyoming there are some people out there that don’t hate the wind but of those some of them only like it because it presents a barrier to overpopulation while there might be other positives about the wind in Wyoming those positives seem to be
somewhat difficult to identify one of our newer Casper residents shared that in their brief experience they aren’t a big fan of the wind but they believe that they most likely will get used to it I hate to break it to them but I have had many years to try but I can’t honestly say that I’m used to the wind maybe it is a better description to say that I can tolerate it of course it’s better to look for a silver lining in it such as the way the wind pushes the pollution out of the state or for some the way it helps to keep our population low we love where we live and so we try to find a way to live with the wind let’s dig a Little Deeper I find it interesting that 20% Which is seven of the 35 respondents didn’t even mention the wind at all maybe they’re like me and they simply realize the and is just a part of life in Wyoming one respondent said they feel like Wyoming schools have
great support for her child special needs I love to hear this education is incredibly important and I’m glad to hear positive things about Wyoming
schools I don’t know about the rest of Wyoming but natrona County School District offers School of Choice a concept that I believe contributes to the high quality of Education here no matter where you live in the Casper area you can investigate the various strengths offered by each school and choose which school is the the best fit for your child one person said their least favorite thing was the extreme heat in July and August that kind of made me take a minute to think about our year-round weather summer is often the favorite time of year here especially July and August July is the hottest month in Wyoming with an average high temperature of 86° August is closed with an average high of 84° of course that does mean we get days that are cooler than mid 80s and days that are hotter than mid 80s there are even days that we hit the mid High 90s and even a few days in the hundreds but definitely not every day again it does depend on where in Wyoming you live here in Casper our average in July is 89° which is a little warmer than the state average other towns that are situated at slightly higher elevations like Centennial a lovely mountain town near larmy may have lower averages like 77° to me our few days in the ’90s are worth it Wyoming’s heat is nothing compared to the heat of
places like Arizona but I can see how some might not love the high temperatures of the summer especially with our dry wind to make it feel more
intense for those people who don’t enjoy being hot I suggest they enjoy a nice River float or take advantage of a lake to cool you off and remind you why living in Wyoming is worth it a few of those responding said they disliked when other people move here but for varying reasons one said they dislike when people move to Wyoming and then try to change the culture here I have heard that before but then some respondents
reported that they dislike what they feel is the good old boys club in Casper another mentioned that they felt the Let Live mentality seems great but isn’t really because it’s limited to those that think similarly so maybe a bit of change might not be all that bad on the other hand numerous people said the strong sense of community they’ve experienced in Wyoming is their favorite thing about living here multiple respondents cited the generosity genuine kindness friendly atmosphere the sense of community and even simply the people here as their favorite thing about
living in Wyoming clearly there are some incredibly positive things about the culture here another mentioned not liking people Moving to Wyoming from other places because they believe it causes the real estate prices to inflate as a real estate agent higher prices could mean some positive things for business but I don’t want PR prices to be so high that homes become unaffordable so maybe keeping our population at a lower level isn’t a bad thing at all I think our lower population density also contributes to a lack of traffic problems which is also on the favorite list some people reported that small towns and lower population are favorite things about Wyoming based on the dislike of new people and the love of community comprised of fewer people there is a repeated theme here and it was stated pretty clearly by a couple of respondents several also reinforced this is a different way by responding that their favorite thing about living in Wyoming is the wide open space along with those Wide Open Spaces we have the mountains incredible scenery the natural beauty and of course the wildlife all of which have been reported as favorite things about living in Wyoming I completely agree with all of these there is nothing like the views in Wyoming both the mountain and the Prairie offer different but outstanding views it truly is a natural beauty that you can only find here friends and family can be an very important factor in loving where you live in fact a couple respondents said their family and friends are their favorite thing about living in Wyoming one super sweet one said her husband is her favorite thing about Wyoming but on the other hand another shared that her least favorite thing was that living in Wyoming meant they live too far from the rest of their family that is a rough one maybe they need to convince their family to move closer right that might be one thing to fix living too far from family because the transportation situation around here presents some difficulty as well there is only one airline that flies in and out of Casper the limited options can definitely drive up the cost of travel which makes it harder for families to come visit on the flip side of that Denver and Billings are about 4 hours away and they do offer some additional options that might be more affordable more than one person said they simply love everything about Wyoming with the exception of of the wind of course I do
love living here but I think it’s a great idea for you to do some research so you can see the full picture of living somewhere which is why we ask
these questions now those of you that live here what is your favorite thing about living in Wyoming and what is your least favorite thing let me know what I missed whether it’s good or bad if you want to experience the good and the bad about living in Wyoming give my team a call we would love to help you remember we want you to love where you live see you soon
