Wyoming Winter Must Haves. Y’all know that winter in Wyoming obviously warrants some special gear! Since recording this video I actually have a heated coat and let me tell how amazing it is!

Wyoming Winter Must Haves
As a Wyomingite, I tend to forget that there are many states that don’t get the opportunity to experience winter quite like we do. There are several very basic items that you’ll need if you plan on spending much time in Wyoming and Casper in the winter and especially if you plan on making Wyoming your home. Hi, I’m Alisha Collins with RE/MAX The Group and the Alisha Collins Real Estate Team. Thank you for watching us on YouTube, we love interacting with you. Please comment below because I will always personally reply to your comments. And don’t forget to click the bell, so you are notified every single time we drop new video which is twice a week. Okay. Back to my list.

Number one, the first item is a great coat. Now it’s important to know, I am not talking about a jacket here, I’m talking about investing in a North Face or Columbia coat, not a cheap imitation jacket. Take my word for it, you will thank me later. If you’re a person who gets extra cold did you know they even sell heated coats? I have one coming to me in the mail. Have you seen them? They run on a battery pack and are just about the best thing on the planet according to one of my assistants, who’s always cold.

Number two, snow boots and warm socks. There are several different levels of snow boots available out there. Wyoming winters are no joke. This means that you want to make sure that you are getting a pair of boots that are waterproof, offer some traction, and also that will keep your feet warm. Oh, and the sock, especially the winter socks. Is this a thing? It actually is. I actually just met with some clients that moved here about a year and a half ago from Phoenix. When they moved here, they literally didn’t own any socks. Needless to say, they have invested in several pair of those fancy toe warmer that you and I know as socks. By the way the local sporting good stores can show you more technical socks than you’d even believe existed for all kinds of activities in all sorts of weather.

Number three, gloves and hats. I probably need them today. Believe it or not, you really do lose a majority of your heat out of your head. Having a great stocking cap or winter hat will help to keep you nice and toasty. They really can be super stylish too. That brings me to gloves and mittens, actually multiple pairs of gloves and mittens: one pair for your vehicle, one pair for your house, one in your office, one in your purse of your backpack. Inevitably you will lose one, so it is always good to have backups. You never can have too many. Having a nice warm waterproof pair of mittens or gloves is great for skiing or shoveling. A grippy pair of warm driving gloves are also nice.

Number four, long sleeve shirts and pants. This may seem like a no brainier, but seriously you are going to need them. If you’re going to be working outdoors or doing a lot of outdoor adventuring, I would even go so far as to recommend base layers. Base layers are somewhat like the old fashioned long johns, but are typically much warmer and they fit under regular clothes nicely. I have one on right now. There are different levels of base layers designed to meet your personal, it’s how cold needs. So if you are someone that is always cold you can buy thicker ones, and if you are a little warmer you can purchase thinner ones. There are even some summer days that are a little chilly and you wish you would have a nice sweatshirt and some summer nights as well.

Number five, cowboy hat and Western boots. So I’m kidding about this to a point. In fact, you don’t really have to have these two items if you don’t want to, or if it isn’t your style. You probably actually don’t even need them, however they are useful. And yes, they really are super fun to have. One of my clients says it’s a necessity for you to own a cowboy hat if you live in Wyoming, in fact, one for summer and one for winter. He says that every one wears them. It is true, there are a lot of people that wear Western boots and cowboy hats all year round around here. So those of you who live here, what did I miss? I’m sure there’s more to add to my list of five. So please let me know.

Remember, we want you to love where you live, and if that place is Wyoming we’d love to help you find the home of your dreams. See you soon.
