You have to eat at these FIVE restaurants in Casper Wyoming!

I don’t know about you, but I’m hungry. It is time for the great debate, what to eat. Well, if you live in Casper, or you’re visiting, there are a few choices you should try. Hi, I’m Alisha Collins.

I love living in Casper. Maybe part of that is how much I love the variety of restaurants we have here, and I love to eat out. I can’t cover them all, it would take me days, but, let me tell you, we have everything from Vietnamese to Mediterranean, and Mexican to Indian, and everything in between. Today, I am going to share with you five places you must try in Casper.

Let’s start with some barbecue, HQ Barbecue to be precise. This little local restaurant may be small, but the taste is mighty. Okay, so technically this restaurant is in Evansville, a little town on the edge of Casper, but, we still claim it as ours. Located in the building of an old gas station, HQ Barbecue doesn’t have a huge seating area, but, if you have to wait, it is worth it. They have excellent you guessed it, barbecue. But there are more choices than that, salads, burgers, sandwiches. One of my very favorites is their epic mac and cheese. You can add brisket, or their brisket chili, or bacon and chicken to make it a little more epic, but it already is. Choose from the pit, smoked daily on site. You can choose ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, even smoked sausage. Their sandwich choices include barbecue options, but also things like crispy shrimp po’ boy, or the ultimate chili dog. Plus, daily doggles is what they call their daily specials, their name for their delicious choices.

And now, speaking of fun names for delicious choices, Eggington’s in downtown Casper is one of the best breakfast and lunch joints in town. I have to say Eggington’s is really the exact type of restaurant you think when friends say, “Let’s get brunch.” Serving delicious options from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM every day except Sunday, which is 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Eggington’s is a popular choice when you are in the mood for some eggy goodness. The variety of choices when it comes to breakfast is one of the things I love most about Eggington’s. You have four different types of Benedicts to choose from, six different Mexican-inspired breakfast choices, including tamales and huevos rancheros, omelets and frittatas, scrambles and skillets, several different oatmeal dishes, a breakfast banana split, and of course, a breakfast classic, chicken fried steak. Have I mentioned the pecan French toast, made from actual pecan rolls? The pancakes, waffles, and French choice choices are pretty amazing as well. Lunch choices are just as varied, from burgers to salads, wraps and sandwiches. Classics like a tuna melt, and a twist on the classic pot roast Philly, or try a flatbread sandwich or panini.

Seriously getting hungry here. While we’re on the topic of breakfast, another classic Casper choice is Johnny J’s Diner, a 50’s-themed diner with amazing food options for breakfast, lunch, and even dinner. Their website boasts when you’re looking for delicious food, generous portions and reasonable prices, Johnny J’s Diner has got you covered. This is an accurate statement for sure, serving up classic diner food, including the standard eggs, bacon and pancake breakfast, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, and more for breakfast. Patty melt, Ruben, and chicken fried chicken are some of the lunch choices. Johnny J’s even serves up a classic dinner diner menu, try saying that 10 times fast, roasted chicken dinners, where you get to choose your cut of bird, liver and onions, steak, fish, and more. Don’t forget to try the meatloaf, it’s a classic delicious choice. Johnny J’s is also your destination for the best milkshake ever.

A newer option in town only open since 2017, Wyoming Ale Works should be on your must try list. It’s my very favorite place in town, with 40 beers on tap from Wyoming and around the region, I am sure you can find one to suit your mood. If not, they have some creative cocktails as well. And speaking of the mood, I hope you’re in the mood for some great food, because Wyoming Ale has a delicious food menu as well. Their website boasts a chef-driven menu, which results in a diverse menu full of flavor. I am honestly not sure where to start on this menu. I think just some of the names might give you an idea of the creative flavors waiting for you at Ale Works. How about some duck gumbo, or bison chili, or blackened shrimp? And crispy goat cheese salad. The burgers are a blend of Angus beef brisket, and ground chuck. Looking for a classic? They have it with the bacon cheeseburger.

Looking to be a bit more adventurous? How about the PB and J burger? I don’t think it can be a true Wyoming restaurant without some steak. So of course, Ale Works offers some steak choices as well as prime rib. Chef favorites include Nashville hot chicken, which is amazing, rancher’s pie, and some excellent bison meatloaf. I am not sure you can go wrong with this menu.

Okay, last but not least on my list of five places you must try in Casper is Dsasumo’s, huh? Yeah, you heard me right. Dsasumo’s is a Thai-inspired Asian bistro and sushi bar also located in downtown Casper. From well-known appetizers like lettuce wrap, and chicken satay, to options like Thai empanadas, I am sure you will find something to tickle your taste buds. You will find some classic Thai dishes like pad thai and drunken noodle, and several curry options, including massaman, pumpkin, mango, and more. Fried rice is also an excellent option on this menu. You can get traditional hot fried rice, pineapple fried rice, and even crab fried rice. For the lunch hour, you can order a bento box, complete with your choice of entree, rice, salad, miso soup, and choice of a three-piece California roll, or egg roll. In the mood for sushi? I might not say the next part right, but from sashimi to chef-inspired rolls, Dsasumo’s will delight. I think I’m going to go order the kraken, a roll with spicy shrimp, cucumber, and jalapeno, topped with avocado, spicy tuna, tempura flakes, and soy glaze. Or maybe a bento box, decisions, decisions.
