Not only was is a snow day (some of us worked and kids had to go to virtual school), but it snowed most of the day. Many Casper Wyoming Residents shoveled, snow blowed and plowed their way out of the snow. It was a pretty fun day at our home as we were snowed in! The horses still had to be fed even though the snow was super deep. I thought I would show your around our place by taking you to the barn, introducing you to the horses and show you what we do snow or shine! Hope you like our VLOG style video!

Snowmaggedon 2023 Casper Wyoming VLOG STYLE

We are most likely over 100 inches of snow just in this winter alone in the Casper area. Obviously you can see it’s snowing. People are calling this Snowmageddon 2023. We had 26.7 inches from the third to the fourth in a 24 hour period. Broke the record that was made in December of 1982 which was a little over 24 inches. And you can see here, this is drifted snow. Obviously it’s not accumulated like this. But that is one of the things about living in Wyoming that you have to know about. Is the drifting snow. We’re gonna see even more as this storm progresses and as the wind picks up even more. Okay I wanna show you some things around our property. Like going to the barn. It’s going to be very snowy and very tall. So let’s go do that.

This is how deep it is behind my truck. And if you look at my husband’s truck you can see how engrossed in snow it is.

Okay, y’all, look at this. This is another drift. And you’re gonna see in a second as I come through this that there’s not gonna be very much snow where I’m going. But I still have to go through this to get to here. It’s crazy, right?

Y’all, this is how we have to get to the barn. You can see on that left side. That is normally a door that we go through. It’s completely covered. And nothing we have right now will get us over there besides our own two feet. So we’re gonna walk over there. And I’m gonna show you what the horses are doing in a storm like this.

So this is kind of fun actually because I’m showing all of you. I just want you to see what you’re getting into when you move to Wyoming. But it’s also super cool. I probably should have mittens on, just for the record. I don’t know why I didn’t grab them. Holy crap honey. My husband is videoing this. I really need gloves. Alright, so we’re getting our workout. This is easy to walk through as you can see. Again, drifting is what is so crazy about the storm. One of the horses that’s outside right now he’s wondering what in the heck is going on?

Okay, so we have a man door right here and then this is a 7×7 foot garage door. Show them the horse. He’s feeling good. That’s DJ, my daughter’s horse and the horses can actually come in and out. I’m gonna show you the stall barn in a minute. They do have trackers. My son runs a snow business so he borrowed our skid steer. It’s in town so he could use it for that. But we also have a John Deere tractor and unfortunately my husband went to plow and a hydraulic hose came off. So we’re hoping a neighbor has one and we can get back to plowing the snow. So let’s go inside and look at the horses.

So you can see in these stalls, they need to be cleaned. So give us a little grace ’cause it’s the weather. But you can see how much snow is out there and DJ is still out there. Now the other horses are a little bit prissier. Would that be you Miss Zoe? So Zoe, you made a mess too. She’s gone out just a little bit and come right back in.

These two are besties. And Dolly that has the best kept stall of everybody. So this is Dolly and this is Bullseye. And I forgot, did I say Izzy? This is Miss Izzy. She’s my main mare. And she’s the one that you guys see in all of the YouTube videos.

DJ, what are you doing out there? Come on. Come on. You silly boy you’re the only one out there. What are you doing? You see him trudging through the snow? Come on, bud. He’s not even taking the road less traveled. He’s making a new one. What do you think you’re doing out there? We need some hay, don’t we? Yeah, you good boy.

So each horse has a run. There’s automatic waters over there. But unfortunately, before this storm, this one decided to not work. So we’re having to haul water in this storm. Which is fine. It is what it is. Whatever we need to do to take care of these horses. It is coming down. So obviously, no matter what the weather is we have to clean the stalls. This horse likes to I probably should’ve cleaned the stall before I called him in. But you know that’s how it goes. Scoochie. Everybody’s happy and getting fed. And you’re wet ’cause you like to go outside in the snowstorm. And stand in your food. Uh huh, what are you doing?

I’m trying to go in old tracks. This way? Does help if you have a husband to hold onto for sure. So I think it’s starting to blow snow a little more than it was when I was first standing here. We just came back from barn that’s why I’m huffing and puffing. But to think that all of this grass, less than like 36 hours ago, we actually fertilized the grass. So when spring comes it is going to be so great. Alright, thank you everybody. Give me some love. This is my very first blog with the help from my husband. So I’m going to show you how crazy this is. I didn’t fall as hard as I thought I would.

[Husband] No, it’s kind of hard enough.

Thanks everybody! Happy snow day!
